Lenoir native a finalist on CMT's 'Can You Duet?'

Caldwell County native Jonathan Cox was selected from 5,000 country music hopefuls as runner-up on Country Music Television’s (CMT) “Can You Duet” show. Cox was paired with Brandon Green of Lucedale, Miss., and the duo finished second in the competition and received a recording contract with Valory Records.
Cox was paired with Green by the judges, having each shown up in Nashville for auditions with someone else. Cox and Green formed the duo JB Rocket and together they made it all the way to the final episode on CMT.
Hosted by CMT’s Lance Smith, “Can you Duet’s” panel of celebrity and expert judge/mentors, including country superstar Naomi Judd, Big Kenny from the duo Big & Rich, and Big Machine Records’ President Scott Borchetta, took on the challenge of finding country music’s next dynamic musical duo. In the finale, its JB Rocket, who were paired by the judges, versus established duo Steel Magnolia, battling it out onstage with performances of their original songs.
Cox and Green had to sing two original songs for the finale, one written by the contestants and one by Big Machine Records.
Cox and Green’s first single will debut in March 2010, with an album to follow.
