Plans being formalized for Wilson Creek park
The Wilson Creek plans are being formalized for the development of a 50-acre day park which is part of a 700-acre land tract acquired by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
Park amenities will include delayed harvest trout fishing, 7,600 feet of walking trails, handicapped accessible fishing piers and observation deck, sheltered picnic areas and unsheltered picnic tables, restrooms, information kiosks and wildlife viewing benches, and a parking area. Hunters will also use the park to access Pisgah National Forest game land.
Recently, $250,000 was obtained from the North Carolina Department of Transportation for the construction of a pedestrian bridge at the new park, and the county hopes to leverage these funds as matching funds for future grants for the park.
