Los Angeles-based Homerun Entertainment recently held a red carpet premier of “Southern Fresh with Tim and Jan” hosted by Tim Haas and Jan Kirby on December 5 in Lenoir, North Carolina.

Caldwell County natives Tim Haas and Jan Kirby returned to their roots to host Southern Fresh, where Kirby gives information and tips in the garden and Haas demonstrates how to cook various dishes highlighting what Kirby has just picked from the garden.

Southern Fresh is a North Carolina-based television show about gardening, cooking and entertaining Southern style. The show is expected to air in early 2010 on RFD-TV – Rural America’s Most Important Network in early 2010. The show can be seen on Directv, Dish Network and Charter Communications. Homerun Entertainment also produces shows for the Food Network and WE: Women’s Entertainment, among others.

Crew members from both California and North Carolina spent several days in Lenoir and Caldwell County in the summer. Several Caldwell County sites included Three Oaks Farms in Granite Falls, the Irish Rose Bed and Breakfast in Lenoir, and F. Futs in Lenoir. They also spent time at Mast Farm Inn in Valley Crucis, Savory Thymes in Boone, and MidState Mills in Newton.

Students from Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute’s culinary program have helped with preparation work on the set as well as cooking some of the meals in advance of production.
