It might not seem like you’d find interesting art outside of an art gallery, or outdoors at all for that matter, but that is what you will experience when you Visit Lenoir & the NC Foothills. In downtown Lenoir, North Carolina, you will find Tucker’s Gallery of Outdoor Sculpture which is one of the largest collections of outdoor sculpture per capita in the country. As you stroll among the shops and other downtown businesses, you’ll happen across various works by sculptors that took up the challenge when asked by the city of Lenoir to make our beautiful community even more appealing. The project began as the brainchild of Keith Willis and Suzette Bradshaw, two of our area art sculptors.

One of the nice things about the art sculptures you’ll find when you visit is that they are continually changing. Every six months, they are replaced with new pieces. If you happen to fall in love with one, you don’t have to worry that it will be gone one day. All artwork is for sale so you can make one yours to add beauty to your own home or community.

Tucker’s Gallery was aptly named to honor the Tucker family who settled here around 1797. The Tucker Barn was the area’s meeting place for celebrations, voting, and other gatherings. As you check out the various sculptures, you can almost feel the history surrounding you. Art lovers and anyone who appreciates seeing something out of the ordinary is bound to find a visit to downtown Lenoir memorable.
