Sawmills

Sawmills lies between Hudson to the north and Granite Falls to the southeast and is positioned on both Lake Rhodhiss and US 321. The name Sawmills was chosen in 1988 because of the many sawmills that supplied wood for local furniture plants.

The town has the county’s second highest population and is among the largest in land area. This close-knit community is home to the county’s largest public school, South Caldwell High School, and is home to many lakeside residential lots.

The town operates two parks—Veteran’s Park on Lake Rhodhiss, which features a paved walking trail and fishing pier, and Baird Drive Park that features a picnic area, walking track, playground, and athletic fields.
